Quite a few times we come across clothes that bear the label One Size. But what does it actually mean? When shopping online, the question is: will it actually fit? Because, to most of people One Size doesn’t actually say the size. Well, the problem is, there is no standard to One Size, and each company will have different criteria to what this size is.
The general idea is that it can be worn by variety of sizes, or it could be an ideal investment for those who struggle with bouncing weight. Generally, one size clothes are made from fabric which has the ability to stretch or carry the wide cut that can accommodate several sizes.
But will it actually fit? This depends. Most of the companies design one size dresses for example in a way that they cover several sizes, 2-3 to be a bit more precise. Normally, regular one size dress will fit sizes S, M and sometimes L. A plus size one size will fit M, L and XL. This is not a standard though, because like we said, it depends on the company. It is always a good idea to check the measurements of the dress. The measurements will normally indicate the measurements like BUST, WAIST, HIPS and LENGHT. By comparing your own measurements, you can actually get an idea if the item will fit and how it will fit. If you know how to take your own measures, that is fine. But if you have no idea where to measure and how, it can be a problem.
It can be quite frustrating. But there is a simple solution to it. And we believe we have found it.
How? Well, looking back to the time where there were no sizes. For example, ancient civilisations had a lot to do with fashion but no size chart. Ancient Greece had a unique philosophy in fashion. The body was cherished and free, clothes were allowing just about any size to fit in a dress. But do not misunderstand, Greeks were quite fit and looked after their body. Though the idea of freedom and loose gathered garments gives grace to any size and bigger sizes can fit in these garments too. Well, this was our idea when we got into designing, to allow just about any size to fit in the dress and be graceful. That was one of the main intentions of the ArtWear line. Following the wisdom of Ancient Greek fashion, the line allows just about any size from S to XXL to fit! The width of the open dress in waist, hips and bust comes to 2,4 meters which is more than enough to accommodate even the most demanding figures. Actually the gatherings of the designs work as well towards better appearance of each size. How? Well, smaller figures will have more gathering, which will make the dress look rich, add a bit of volume and grace, while larger figures will have less gathering, less volume, will flow better, which is actually what larger figures need to look slimmer and better. Problem solved! And it is simple as that.
This means that actually the only thing you are left to worry is length. Or is it? Well, a sort of. It depends where you want to have your waist. Because, you may wish to have a low waist line or have it high with dresses which have gathering in the waist. This is another advantage. To have the ability to wear a dress gathered low for a more loose fit and boho style or show off the waist by putting waistline higher up with a more gather. The choice is up to you. This can actually mean about 10cm longer or shorter choice when it comes to length, which can come quite useful when it comes to different choices of shoes depending on weather you decide to style a dress with flats or high heels. Anyhow, if the dress is too long it can be easily shortened. It will take just a short visit to a local seamstress and at low cost.
Our experience with the ArtWear line which features our One Size items, is that we had no returns on sales at all. Most of our sales have been made trough internet. Which is a good indication that no size related problems have occurred.
Furthermore, we do take pride in the fact that our One Size designs are a lifetime investment in a dress that will always fit. How? Well, the fact that we all do take a bit extra on from time to time, is always an issue with our clothes. We don’t always fit in them. This line is designed to be able to adjust size to any change of a woman body, even pregnancy. It is important that a woman can cherish herself and be able to enjoy each stage in her life. Because we believe that all women are beautiful, no matter the size nor the age, we decided to create clothes which are able to accommodate such a demand. Especially, important was to try to create a dress, that will follow the One Size idea we have, which is a wedding dress but also a dress that can be worn after and many years to come. We are proud to have achieved this.
As long as we are concerned the One Size question is been demystified. Even more, we managed to take it to the next level.
